Emil Book Bratbak (Lillehammer, Norway/Lillehammer) wrapped up the ski season by placing 28
th in the 20km mass start classic race at the NCAA Championships on Friday.
How it Happened
Much like Wednesday's freestyle race, Book Bratbak would make up time in the latter half of the race. In the first 10k, Book Bratbak fell back in the 30s, but made his move forward in the final 10k. At the 15k mark he was already up to 29
th. He jumped up one more spot in the final 5k to finish 28
th overall with a time of 58:50. By finishing in the top 30, he recorded team points for the Saints.
Ricardo Izquierdo-Bernier of the University of New Mexico won the 20k championship with a time of 55:50. Book Bratbak was once again the fifth Central Region finisher of the six in the field. Northern Michigan University had three skiers finish in the top 11. Book Bratbak was also fifth of the eight skiers from NCAA Division III schools in the field.
The Saints will finish 23rd of the 24 teams represented at the championships.
