csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team shut out Bethany Lutheran College 9-0 Sunday afternoon at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center.
Doubles
The No. 1 team of
Serhii Tykhonenko (Kiev, Ukraine/Lyceum #100 "Podil") and
Rafa Gonzalez (La Libertad, El Salvador/FESA) out played their competitors to win 8-3.
Jake Jolowsky (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and
Jack Kearney (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS), from team No. 2, played just as hard to also win 8-5. Lastly
CJ Howard (Becker, Minn./Becker HS) and
Duke Nguyen (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy and Summit School) succeeded with an 8-2 margin at the No. 3 spot.
Singles
Reed Kolles (Otsego, Minn./Rogers HS) left little room for slack defeating Bethany Lutheran 6-0, 6-0 in position No. 6.
Connor Croft (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS), in the No. 5 spot, also had a strong match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
Anton Sopin (Saratov, Russia/Gymnasium #8 (Tabor College)) was able to win 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4.
In position No. 1, Tykhonenko won 6-1, 6-0.
Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) defeated his opponent 7-5, 6-0 in spot No. 2. Lastly, Gonzalez, in the No. 3 spot, won by 6-3, 6-1 scores.

The Saints (7-7, 2-0 UMAC) will play Crown College in Chaska next Saturday. The dual will be at SW Christian High School with matches starting at 4 p.m.
