Lumsden and Foss Record Wins in Outdoor Opener

RESULTS

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's track & field team began its outdoor season on Saturday, competing in the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open, hosted by Cedarville University (Ohio).
 
Winners
Malcolm Lumsden (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College (Lake Superior College)) opened his first collegiate outdoor track season by winning the 100m dash with a time of 11.00. Lumsden also placed fourth in the 200m dash, posting a time of 22.72.
 
Junior Easton Foss (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) was also victorious, placing first in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 9:54.01.
 
Other Top Performances
In his first collegiate meet, Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS) was runner up in the triple jump with a mark of 42'0" (12.80m). Carlson was also sixth in the long jump with a leap of 21'0" (6.40m).
 
Joe Guimond (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) finished seventh in the javelin with a throw of 118'9" (36.20m).
 
Michael Petron (Royalton, Minn./Royalton HS) was eighth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.38. Donovan Blatz (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) was eighth in the long jump with an outdoor personal-best mark of 20'2.5" (6.16m).
 
Frank Cerar (Plainview, Minn./Plainview-Elgin-Millville HS) placed ninth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.59. Jake Bonasera (Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS) was ninth in the discus throw with a personal-best toss of 98'3" (29.96m).
 
Isaac Boedigheimer (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) was 10th in the 5,000m run, finishing in 15:59.22.
 
The Saints finished with the fourth-most points (48) in the scored meet, but was the top scoring NCAA Division III program of the four DIII schools in attendance.
 
Up Next
The Saints will be in action closer to home next Saturday when they take part in the Ashton may Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
