ISHPEMING, Mich. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's ski team wrapped up competition at the Northern Michigan University Qualifier Sunday morning placing third in the 10km individual start freestyle race at the Al Quaal Recreation Area.
Top Performers
For the first time this season it was freshman
Hannes Stenstrom (Are, Sweden/Are Skidgymnasium) leading the CSS skiers, placing a season-best sixth overall with a time of 26:13.
Emil Book Bratbak (Lillehammer, Norway/Lillehammer) was next in eighth with a time of 26:27. That is Book Bratbak's fifth straight top-10 finish.
Gus Schatzlein (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) was the final Saint to score in 14
th place overall with a time of 27:14.
That marked the first time this season Schatzlein has scored for the team. Six different Saints have now scored this season, four of which by freshmen.
Team Finishes
Northern Michigan swept the top three spots to earn the team title for day and the weekend. For the second straight day, Zak Ketterson won the event with a time of 24:38. Michigan Tech University was second with 83 points and the Saints third with 74 points.

The Saints will have a weekend off before the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Championships, which will take place on February 16 and 17 at the Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis.
