Michala Walther (Roseville, Minn./Concordia Academy) and sophomore
Kaylee Kennedy (Littlefork, Minn./Littlefork-Big Falls HS) have been named Honorable Mention All-UMAC, the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced on Monday.
Honorable Mention
Walther is named honorable mention all-conference for the second consecutive season. She was also a Second Team choice in 2016-17. Walther scored over 300 points for the second time in her career, averaging 12.9 points per game. She recorded a career-high 115 rebounds on the year.
In league games, Walther led the team in scoring, averaging 14.4 points per game, which ranked ninth in the conference.
For her career, she finished with 1,116 points, which ranks eighth in program history. Walther broke the program record with 159 career 3-pointers made, making at least 35 each season.
Kennedy earns UMAC postseason accolades for the first time in her career. Kennedy made a big jump from her sophomore season as led the team in scoring, averaging 13.9 points per game. That ranked ninth in the conference. She scored at least 20 points five times, including a season-high 27 points against Concordia College-Moorhead in December.
Kennedy finished third in the conference in free throw percentage (.817) and sixth in field goal percentage (.449).
Postseason Awards
Hannah Norlin of the University of Wisconsin-Superior was named the UMAC Player of the Year. UWS Head Coach Zach Otto-Fischer and Bethany Lutheran College Head Coach Lyle Jones were named Co-Coaches of the Year. North Central University's Naomi Hagstrom was named the league's Freshman of the Year.
