Mische-Richter Posts Top Five in Region Freestyle

RESULTS

HOUGHTON, Mich. (csssaints.com) – Sophomore Tamer Mische-Richter (Bloomington, Minn./John F. Kennedy HS) put together a strong performance in the 10km freestyle individual start at Saturday's NCAA Central Region Championships to lead the St. Scholastica men's ski team with a top-five finish.

Top Performers
Mische-Richter is still in contention for the final NCAA qualifying spot and put together a strong effort to begin the weekend with his second top-five finish of the season, placing fifth with a time of 29:17.9. That was his first top-five with all CCSA teams in attendance. It is also the first time he led the team in a race this season.

The person in the final qualifying spot entering the weekend is teammate Emil Book Bratbak (Lillehammer, Norway/Lillehammer). Book Bratbak also put together a top-10 performance, finishing seventh with a time of 29:43.  Both Mische-Richter and Book Bratbak earn All-Region honors with their performances, marking the first time since 2014 the Saints have had multiple all-region performances on a single-day.

The final Saint to score was freshman Hannes Stenstrom (Are, Sweden/Are Skidgymnasium) in 12th with a time of 30:20.1. Stenstrom has scored for the team in each of the final three freestyle races.

Fellow freshmen Bjorn Larson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Colorado State)) and Nick Matelich (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman HS (Montana State)) also posted top-20 finishes, placing 18th and 19th respectively.
