Men’s Skiing Places Third at CCSA Championships

RESULTS

MINNEAPOLIS (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's ski team finished third in the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Championships 10km freestyle individual start on Sunday to finish third for the weekend.
 
Top Performers
It was freshman Hannes Stenstrom (Are, Sweden/Are Skidgymnasium) edging junior teammate Jack Christianson (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) for the top time on the team. Stenstrom finished in 25:21.5, while Christianson was 25:21.9. Stenstrom placed 29th overall and 12th among CCSA skiers. Christianson was 30th and 13th among CCSA skiers.
 
Sophomore Tamer Mische-Richter (Bloomington, Minn./John F. Kennedy HS) was the final Saint to score in 32nd overall (14th among CCSA skiers) with a time of 25:26. Mische-Richter was the only Saint to score in both races this weekend.
 
Freshmen Gus Schatzlein (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS), Emil Book Bratbak (Lillehammer, Norway/Lillehammer) and Nick Matelich (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman HS (Montana State)) also posted top-20 CCSA finishes.
 
Team Scores
Northern Michigan University swept the top three CCSA spots for the second straight day to capture the team title. Yesterday's classic winner, Zak Ketterson, finished second overall in the field on Sunday.
 
Michigan Tech University placed second for the second straight day. The Huskies accumulated 87 points on Sunday, while the Saints finished with 70 points on Sunday.
 
St. Scholastica has finished third at the CCSA Championships each of the last three seasons.

The final race weekend takes place next week in Houghton, Michigan with the NCAA Central Region Championships.
