DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team went 11 minutes between made field goals in the first half of Friday night's season-opening 71-52 loss to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at the Reif Gymnasium.
How it Happened
Sophomore
Chance Larson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) scored the first four points for the Saints and after 3-pointers by
Jarod Wilken (Annandale, Minn./Annandale HS) and
Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS), CSS held an early 10-5 lead. However, from that point, the Blugolds would go on an 18-0 run over the next nine minutes and CSS was 0-for-13 from the field. The Saints went without a made field for over 11 minutes. Eau Claire went into halftime with a 34-16 lead.
The Saints only got as close as 14 in the second half as the Blugolds extended their lead to as much as 27 with three minutes to go before the Saints ended the game on an 8-0 run to make the final 71-52.

Wilken had 11 points and seven rebounds, while Carlson added 10 points. Larson had nine points and seven rebounds.
Top Performances for UWEC
Cole Rabedeaux had a game-high 18 points, while Carter Brooks added 15 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Clay Kujawa grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
