RIVER FALLS, Wis. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team fell on the road Tuesday evening to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls 83-60.
How It Happened
The first half would start out with a quick four-point lead for the Falcons before
Jarod Wilken (Annandale, Minn./Annandale HS) would get a layup in to get the Saints on the board. River Falls would go on a six-point run to go up 15-7 with just under 14-minute remaining in the half.
Isiah Hendrickson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) would end the River Falls run by putting in two free throws and a three pointer in the next 40 seconds to bring the Saints deficit down to three at 15-12. Back and forth scoring would begin to favor River Falls when they would go on a nine-point run in the next two minutes to increase their lead to 33-20. CSS trailed 41-28 at the half.
The Saints would come out of halftime with eight points in the first four minutes with two layups from Wilkin and a layup apiece from
Chance Larson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) and
Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS) to trim the River Falls lead to 43-36. In the next eight minutes River Falls would go on a 20-8 run with the Saints only being able to make 3-of-11 shots taken to bring the score to 63-44. A Saints 9-4 run would trim the River Falls lead to 67-53 with five minutes to go in the game. River Falls would take their own run to finish the game going on a 16-7 run to seal the win 83-60.
Top Performers
Wilkin had a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Saints. Carlson was the second leading scorer for the Saints with 13 points and Hendrickson added eight points.
Cade Goggleye (Nett Lake, Minn./North Woods HS) dished out five assists in the loss.

The Saints (0-2) will travel to Moorhead this Saturday to face Concordia College-Moorhead in a non-conference matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
