Men’s Soccer Set for Rematch with Bethany in UMAC Semifinal

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team will face the same opponent as the final game of the regular season as Bethany Lutheran College returns to Duluth for Wednesday's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament semifinal.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints are the No. 2 seed in the tournament
-CSS has advanced to the UMAC Tournament Championship game every year since the 2007 season.
-Junior Alex Dodd (Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville HS), who did not play in the regular season finale against the Vikings, led the conference with six assists in league play.
-Dodd and sophomore Nolan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) also tied for the team lead with six goals in UMAC play.
-Senior Malcolm Lumsden (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College (Lake Superior College)) scored both goals against the Vikings in the regular season finale.
-Senior goalkeeper Corey Bulheller (Middleton, England/Highfields Secondary School (Bacone)) had five shutouts in league play, which led the conference.
-Bulheller has played the second-most minutes in NCAA Division III this season (1835:33)
-The Saints allowed only four goals in league play, which was the second-fewest in the conference; two of those four were against the Vikings.

-The Vikings are the No. 3 seed in the tournament.
-This is BLC's first UMAC Tournament appearance since the 2015 season.
-Bethany leads NCAA Division III with 75 goals, 68 assists and 218 points.
-Max Busch, who scored both goals against the Saints in the regular season finale, leads the nation with 25 goals and 52 points.
-Luuk Oosterbosch, who played only a small portion against the Saints in the regular season contest, is third in the country with 16 assists.
-Goalkeeper Moritz Bruns was second in the conference with a 1.80 goals-against-average in league play.

Series History: The Saints had won 29 consecutive games over the Vikings up until two Saturday's ago when the Vikings tied CSS at Saints Field … The two goals scored by BLC matched the team's total number of goals scored in the previous 11 meetings … The Saints have won the previous four UMAC Tournament meetings between the two programs by a combined scored of 23-1.
 
Looking Ahead: The winner of Wednesday's semifinal will advance to the UMAC Championship game on Saturday at the highest remaining seed at a time to be determined.
