Game Recap
The Saints wasted no time in jumping ahead on the Johnnies (2-3-3) with a 2-0 lead early in the first period. Three minutes into the game Jordan Fralich (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Bismarck-NAHL)) put the Saints on the board. Shortly thereafter followed Carson Rose (Surrey, British Columbia/Elgin Park Secondary (Weyburn-SJHL)) made it 2-0 halfway through the period. Talbot and Max Mettler (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Minot-NAHL)) had the assists. Despite not capitalizing on a Johnnies penalty, CSS outshot SJU 13-10 in the first period.

The second period started out in the Johnnies favor with a powerplay a minute in, but they were unable to convert the opportunity into a score despite seven shot attempts on goal. The Saints continued to hold off the Johnnies scoring attempts throughout the second period; CSS goalie Zane Steeves (Red Deer, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (100 Mile Wranglers-KIJHL)) had 16 saves in the second period.

SJU's efforts finally paid off with nine minutes remaining in the third period with a goal by Davis Kirkendall. Shortly after a Saints powerplay, the Johnnies were able to tie the game with a short-handed goal from Peter Tabor with five minute remaining.

In overtime, the Saints were able to get three shots off, with the winning goal coming from Talbot with 1:27 remaining. Rose had the assist. The Johnnies did not get a shot on goal in overtime.
