Notables
-First win over the Saints by Trine
-Shots: CSS-32, Trine-26

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Trine University (Ind.) scored a pair of second period goals 70 seconds apart and then held off the St. Scholastica men's hockey team 3-1 on Saturday at Mars Lakeview Arena to conclude the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) series.

How it Happened
After a scoreless first period, the Thunder (5-3-0, 4-2-0 NCHA) got on the board right as a CSS penalty expired one minute and 42 seconds into the second period to make it 1-0. Trine added another goal one minute and 10 seconds later to extend the lead to 2-0. Jordan Fralich (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Bismarck-NAHL)) struck the iron with a shot midway through the second period, but the Thunder took a two-goal lead into the third period.

The Saints got on the board with 9:34 remaining on a Nate Pionk (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS (Minot-NAHL)) tally to cut the Trine lead in half. Tyler Hinterser (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville HS (Brookings-NAHL)) and Isaac Kobienia (Wilmar, Minn./Willmar HS (Minnesota Wilderness-NAHL)) had the assists. However, three minutes later, the Thunder made it a two-goal game once again with another even-strength goal.

CSS pulled the goaltender a couple of times in the final four minutes, but could not get any closer as Trine won 3-1.

Goaltending
Zane Steeves (Red Deer, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (100 Mile Wranglers-KIJHL)) made 23 saves for the Saints, while Brett Young had 31 saves for the Thunder.
