MILWAUKEE, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team will leave Milwaukee with three Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) points after coming away with a 3-1 victory over No. 13 Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) on Saturday.

How it Happened
The Saints, who tied the Raiders 1-1 on Friday, took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a Zack DeBoom (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Granite City-NA3HL)) goal. Mike Nolan (Aldergrove, British Columbia/Yale Secondary (Fresno-WSHL)) and Tyler Hinterser (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville HS (Brookings-NAHL)) had the assists. CSS led despite being out-shot 12-5.

St. Scholastica extended its lead to two goals eight minutes into the second period on a Hinterser goal. Dustin Cordeiro (Kitchener, Ontario/Elliot Lake Secondary School (Cochrane-NOJHL)) had the assist. Later in the period, with less than five minutes remaining, Jordan Fralich (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Bismarck-NAHL)) made it a three-goal game with assists from Isaac Kobienia (Wilmar, Minn./Willmar HS (Minnesota Wilderness-NAHL)) and Michael Talbot (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS (Minot-NAHL)).

The Raiders (5-1-1, 1-1-1 NCHA), who entered the weekend unbeaten and untied, desperately tried to get back in it, out-shooting the Saints 17-3 in the third period. They would get one goal on the power-play early in the period, but Zane Steeves (Red Deer, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (100 Mile Wranglers-KIJHL)) made 16 of his 36 saves in the period to preserve the 3-1 victory.

Goaltending
Steeves finished with a season-high 36 saves and 67 saves for the weekend to earn his first win of the year.

Up Next
The Saints (1-4-1, 1-2-1 NCHA) return to Mars Lakeview Arena next weekend for a two-game NCHA series against Trine University (Ind.). The first game of the series in Friday begins at 7 p.m.
