Men’s Skiers Sweep Sunday’s Podium in Cable

CABLE, Wis. (csssaints.com) – Freshman Emil Book Bratbak (Lillehammer, Norway/Lillehammer) led a trio of St. Scholastica men's skiers on Sunday, winning the 10km classic of the Gitchi Gami Games on the American Birkebeiner Trail.
 
Podium Sweep
Book Bratbak edged freshman teammate Nick Matelich (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman HS (Montana State)) by a second with a winning time of 25:47. Junior Jack Christianson (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) completed the podium for the Saints, placing third with a time of 25:56.
 
Book Bratbak's victory is the first CSS win in a non-sprint or relay race since Paul Schommer won the freestyle race at Mount Itasca in 2014.
 
Other Top Performers
Gus Schatzlein (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) was 11th, posting a time of 26:57, just missing a top 10 by five-tenths of a second. Isaac Wieber (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) was 19th with a time of 27:25.
 
Gabe Raguse (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS) and Bjorn Larson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Colorado State)) were 31st and 32nd, respectively. Hannes Stenstrom (Are, Sweden/Are Skidgymnasium) was 34th
