Men’s Soccer to Host MLC for Senior Day Saturday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team will honor its seniors on Saturday when it welcomes Martin Luther College to Saints Field.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints have gone 2-0-1 to open UMAC play, it puts them alone at the top of the standings with seven points.
-In the win against the University of Northwestern (Minn.) Tuesday, the Saints scored five goals by five different players.
-Also with the victory over the Eagles, Saints Coach Barry Chastey picked up his 200th win while leading the Saints.
-Senior Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School) pushed his team-leading total to five goals.
-Michael Petoletti (Duluth, Minn./Proctor HS (Lake Superior College)) got his first action against the Eagles and picked up his first win as a Saint.
-With the tie against University Wisconsin-Superior, it marks the first time since 2008 the Saints have not started 3-0 in conference play.
-CSS' two losses this season have come against teams currently ranked in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Division III Top 25 Poll.
-Luther College is ranked 20th and St. Norbert is ranked 24th.
-The Saints will recognize seven seniors on Saturday.
 
What You Need to Know about Martin Luther:
Record: 2-3-2, 1-0-2 UMAC
 
-The Knights have opened conference play without a loss, but two ties holds them down from the top of the standings.
-After a nice 5-1 victory over Northwestern to open their UMAC play the Knights have squandered ties against Bethany Lutheran College and University of Minnesota Morris, both ending in a score of 2-2.
-Joe Graumann leads the offensive charge for the Knights. Seven games into the 2018 season he has already racked up three goals, four assists, (10 points) and 39 shots (15 SOG) for the Knights.
-Graumann was named to the second team all-UMAC for the 2016 and 2017 season.
-Former Saint Aaron Swanson (Rochester, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS (Martin Luther)), re-joins the Knights this season and has tallied two goals thus far.
-Gabriel Plocher has played all 670 minutes for the Knights this season, allowing just over two goals a game on a .795 save percentage.
 
Series Record: CSS leads 33-9 (Last Meeting: 3-1 CSS– 10/7/2017)
 
Series History: The Saints have won 20 straight matches against Martin Luther, having not lost since October 2006. The Saints are 20-1 all time at home against the Knights.
 
Looking Ahead: The Saints take a break from UMAC play and will go on the road to Northfield to take on Carleton College from the MIAC. They will faceoff Wednesday, with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m.
