ST. PETER, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team defeated Bethany Lutheran College 8-1 on Saturday at the Swanson Tennis Center.
Doubles
The Saints won two of the three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of
Serhii Tykhonenko (Kiev, Ukraine/Lyceum #100 "Podil") and
Bryce Gadke (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield HS) won 8-3. That was the same winning score from the No. 3 tandem of
Jack Kearney (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and
Connor Croft (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS).
Singles
CSS swept all six singles matches. Tykhonenko won at the No. 1 spot 6-1, 6-0.
Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) prevailed at No. 2 by scores of 6-1, 6-2 for his fourth straight victory. Gadke took care of business at the No. 3 spot 6-3, 6-4.
Trace Combs (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) won at the No. 4 spot 6-3, 7-5. Kearney won 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot. Finally,
Jason Kent (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Altoona (Wis.) HS) dropped his first set, but rallied to win in three by scores of 4-6, 6-1, (10-3).
