Two UMAC Matches on Tap for Women’s Tennis

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team gets back into Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action this weekend with two matches.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints are coming off a 5-4 setback to Concordia University Wisconsin last week.
-In that defeat, the Saints dropped three singles matches in three sets.
-Senior Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn./Armstrong HS) continues to add to the record book as she has won seven straight singles matches and now sits at 73 career singles victories.
-Coryell is 11-1 on the year and has already matched a career-high with five doubles wins.
-Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) is 7-3 in singles action and has won her last two matches.
-Alexia Brascugli (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) and Elise Hauer (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) have paired up to win a team-high five doubles matches.
-With one more win at the No. 3 doubles spot, Brascugli can match the program record of 28 at that position.
-CSS is 39-30 in singles action and 20-16 in doubles play.
 
What You Need to Know about Bethany Lutheran:
-The Vikings will enter Saturday's match with a 2-6 overall record and 1-0 in conference play.
-Bethany defeated North Central University 6-3 on March 24 to open UMAC action.
-BLC has won its last two matches.
-Denae Walton has two wins at No. 1 singles.
-Walton was an All-UMAC selection in golf this fall.
-Averi Cash leads the team with three wins all at the No. 5 singles spot.
-Cash has won three straight matches.
-Walton and Leah Schaefer have two victories at the No. 1 doubles spot.
-Cash and Fallon Yates are 2-0 at the No. 3 doubles spot.
-BLC is 14-34 in singles and 8-16 in doubles thus far.
 
Series Record: CSS leads 29-0 (Last Meeting: 9-0 CSS – 5/5/2017)
 
Series History: The Saints have swept the Vikings 17 straight times, including in last year's UMAC Tournament semifinal.
 
What You Need to Know about Minnesota Morris:
-The Cougars have played only two matches thus far and are 1-1.
-Morris defeated North Central University last Thursday in non-conference play.
-Maddie Johnson and Emily Johnson are the team's top two players.
