DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – For the first time in six years, the St. Scholastica women's track & field team took part in an outdoor meet in Duluth on Saturday with the Bulldog Open, hosted by the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Hovland at Drake Thursday
Senior
Casey Hovland (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) competed at the Drake Relays on Thursday in her first collegiate 10,000m race. Hovland placed ninth overall and third among NCAA Division III runners with a time of 37:16.45. That is the 24
th fastest time in NCAA Division III this season.
Top Performances
In Duluth on Saturday, senior
Sammi Argir (Chisholm, Minn./Hibbing HS) was second in the 100m dash with a season-best time of 12.74. Argir was also runner-up in the long jump with a season-best leap of 16'11.25" (5.16m).
Senior
Breanna Shofner (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) was runner-up in the triple jump with a personal-best outdoor mark of 33'9.25" (10.29m).
Junior
Emily Conley (Marinette, Wis./Marinette HS) was second in the discus with a toss of 110'8" (33.73m). Sophomore
Natalie St. Marie (St. Francis, Minn./St. Francis HS) was third in the hammer throw with a mark of 142'0" (43.28m).
Aria Plewa (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) finished third in the 800m run with a time of 2:24.57.
Katelynn Gullickson (Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) was fifth in that event finishing in 2:34.20.
Sophomore
Anika Kling (Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS) was sixth in the 200m dash, posting a time of 26.73. Junior
Mel Avinon (San Martin de los Andes, Argentina/Ontario Hockey Academy) was also sixth in the 400m dash with a season-best time of 1:02.65.
Kaylie King (Roseville, Minn./Roseville HS) was sixth in the pole vault, clearing a personal-best height of 9'8" (2.95m).

The Saints will be back at Malosky Stadium next weekend for the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Outdoor Championships beginning on Friday. CSS and UW-Superior are co-hosting the event.
