Women's Track and Field Wraps Up Regular Season at Hamline

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Teams from around the state came together for a final regular season showdown at Hamline University on Friday afternoon. This was the last chance for individuals to qualify for their respective conference championships. Representatives from Augsburg, Bethel, Concordia-St. Paul, Gustavus Adolphus, Hamline, Macalester, Minnesota, Minnesota-Duluth, Saint Benedict, Saint Mary's, St. Catherine, St. Cloud State, St. Thomas, as well as numerous club teams, all came to Klas Field to flash their end of season readiness.

In their season debut, the 4x100m relay team of Andrea Petroske, Kayla Nelson (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS), Paxon Rendahl, and Allison Fink executed seamless handoffs to place third overall in a time of 51.42 seconds.

Nelson returned in the 400m dash with a strong fifth place finish. She finished the one lap affair in a time of 1:00.07.

In the 1500m run, Regan Niemi (Bemidji, MN/Bemidji HS) raced to a blistering personal best time of 4:50.03. This ranks Niemi as the third fastest Saint of all time in the event.

In the jumps, Fink led the Saints on the runway in both horizontal events. In the long jump, Fink placed fourth overall with a leap of 5.29m. This personal best jump ranks Fink at the number four spot in school history. Fink also placed fourth overall in the triple jump with yet another personal best. Her mark of 10.49m ties for the fifth farthest triple jump in Saints history.

Jillian Bilben (International Falls, MN/Falls High School) and Ana Jouppi (Duluth, MN/Duluth East HS) also had solid finishes in the triple jump on Friday. In a highly consistent series, Bilben placed sixth with a jump of 9.97. Right on her heels was Jouppi in seventh place with a monster personal best of 9.91m. 

The throws were one again led by Ella Stritesky (Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) in the hammer. Stritesky send a couple big throws over the fifty meter mark, with her best launching 50.98m to place third in the meet.

Ella Engen (Clearbrook, Minn./Clearbrook-Gonvick HS) placed sixth in the hammer with a toss of 47.74m, while Kyra Hovis (Duluth, MN/Superior High School) sent one 46.75m to place seventh overall. 

After a successful last shot at filling next week's championship roster, the Saints will recharge and iron out their prospective entries through the weekend. MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship action kicks off next weekend at St. Olaf College in Northfield. Look out for more updates on the competition that takes place on May 8th and 9th.
