DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) -- The St. Scholastica baseball team swept Crown College in a doubleheader by scores of 2-1 and 16-0 on Saturday at Wade Stadium.

Game 1: CSS 2, Crown 1
Game one proved to be a nail-biter if you were a Saints fan. Crown took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth. The Storm then loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth, but Seth Anderson (Robbinsdale, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper HS) entered the game and induced a 5-2-3 double play and then recorded a strikeout to keep it 1-0. CSS took advantage in the bottom frame as Eric Pearson (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) walked with the bases loaded allowing Drew Colvard (Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) to score and tying the game at 1-1. Joey Zwak (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) then scored for the Saints off a Conor Wollenzien (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS) sacrifice fly to make it 2-1.

Crown put the tying run at third in the eighth, but failed to push the runner across. Joe Gonrowski (Elk River, Minn./Elk River HS) entered the game in the ninth in a save situation. The Storm were able to put runners at first and second, but Gonrowski got the final out by strikeout for the 2-1 final.

Seth Anderson (Robbinsdale, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper HS) earned the win in relief, pitching three innings. Aidan Zurn (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) had the non-decision, despite striking out five in five innings. Gonrowski picked up the save. The CSS offense managed only four hits in the contest, two coming from catcher Cole Tyman (Elk Mound, Wis./Elk Mound HS).

Game 2: CSS 16, Crown 0 (F/7)
The Saints scored runs in every inning they batted, including putting the game away with a seven-run fifth for a less drama-filled nightcap winning 16-0 in seven innings.

Pearson was 4-for-5 at the plate with three RBIs. Steven Neutzling (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Aaron Webber also had a pair of RBIs. The CSS offense had 15 hits in game two.

Jake Sande (Hayward, Wis./Hayward HS) struck out seven in five innings to earn the victory. James Fuerniss (Lonsdale, Minn./New Prague HS) pitched the last two innings for the Saints and didn't give up a single hit.
