csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team was defeated 6-3 in a non-conference matchup against Concordia University Wisconsin on Thursday.
Doubles
The Saints were defeated in all three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of
Serhii Tykhonenko (Kiev, Ukraine/Lyceum #100 "Podil") and
Trace Combs (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS), along with the No. 2 team of
Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and
Jack Kearney (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) both lost by 8-6 scores.
Singles
CSS' three singles wins came from Tykhonenko, Schneider and
Connor Croft (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS). Tykhonenko won his match at the No. 1 spot by scores of 6-2, 6-3. Schneider won at the No. 2 spot with score of 6-3, 6-1. Croft defeated his opponent by scores of 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 6 spot.

The Saints (2-8) face conference opponent Bethany Lutheran College at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter and then Martin Luther College in New Ulm next Saturday. The first match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
