Women’s Tennis Welcomes Crown Saturday for UMAC Opener

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team will have its first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) match of the season on Saturday when it hosts Crown College in Duluth.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-New this year is each conference team will play each other only once during the regular season.
-With the automatic qualifier now at stake, the higher-seeded team will now host each round of the conference tournament.
-The Saints went 3-1 down in Florida last week during its spring trip.
-Senior Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn./Armstrong HS) went 4-0 singles play and 2-1 in doubles action to be named the UMAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
-Coryell has won five straight singles matches and is 9-1 on the season.
-Sophomore Elizabeth Fink (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century HS) is on a three-match singles winning streak and is 4-1 at the No. 4 spot this season.
-The Saints are 31-26 in singles play, while being only 15-15 in doubles action.
 
What You Need to Know about Crown:
-The Storm are in their first year as a program.
-Crown has lost its first three matches by 9-0 scores.
-It has its conference opener on Thursday when it faces the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
-The Storm are led by Head Coach Eric Shourds in their first season.
