ORLANDO, Fla. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team concluded its spring trip with a 6-3 loss to Springfield College (Mass.) on Tuesday.
Doubles
The Saints were looking good after doubles play when the No. 2 team of
Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and
Jack Kearney (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) won 8-5 and the No. 3 team of
Connor Croft (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) and
Jake Jolowsky (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) won by that same score.
Singles
However, the Pride (2-2) controlled the singles action, winning five of the six matches. They won the first four singles matches to finish to seal the dual win.
Schneider was the only Saint to win in singles action, prevailing in a third set super-breaker 7-5, 2-6, (12-10). Kearney went into a lengthy first set tiebreak in his match at the No. 4 spot, but fell 12-10 in the tiebreaker. Springfield shut out the Saints in the second set in four of the six matches.
