DeLestry Leads Men’s Skiers in MTU Freestyle Race

HOUGHTON, Mich. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's nordic ski team was third among Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) schools for the second straight day on Sunday in the 20km freestyle race of the Michigan Tech Qualifier.
 
Top Performances
Junior Dan DeLestry (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS) led the Saints for the first time this season with a career-best CCSA finish of 11th in a time of 1:02:28. Jack Christianson (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) matched a season-best CCSA finish of 15th with a time of 1:02:55. Ryan Steger (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) scored for the second consecutive day, placing 24th with a time of 1:07:03.
 
After this weekend, DeLestry is the only Saint to have scored in every CCSA race this season.
 
Team Finishes
The host, Michigan Tech, won Sunday with three skiers in the top four. Gaspard Cuenot led all college skiers with a time of 59:43. Northern Michigan University was second and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay was a close fourth behind the Saints.
 
Up Next
The Saints are back in Rhinelander, Wisconsin next weekend for the CCSA Championships. Action begins on Saturday at the COVAC Trails.
