csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica women's tennis team edged Saint Mary's University 6-3 Saturday at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center. The Saints are 3-0 when hosting the Cardinals.
Doubles
All three doubles matches was decided by a score of 8-6. The Saints won at the No. 2 and No. 3 spot.
Elise Hauer (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and
Alexia Brascugli (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) were the No. 2 team, while
Daniela Rojas (Monterrey, Mexico/Universidad Tecmilenio) and
Emma Bartels (Roseville, Minn./Mounds View HS (Minn.-Duluth)) won at the No. 3 spot.
Singles
The Saints also won four out of six singles matches, with three of the six matches going into a third set. At No. 2, Hauer lost her first set 2-6, but came back in the second set with a score of 6-4. However, Hauer lost the third set 10-8.
Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS), at No. 3, also dropped the first set, but rallied to defeat her SMU opponent 3-6, 7-5, (12-10).
Elizabeth Fink (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century HS) (No. 4) did the same, winning 6-7 (4-7), 6-0, (10-3). At No. 5,
Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn./Armstrong HS) blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Finally at No. 6, Brascugli won 7-6 (7-2), 6-0.
