HOUGHTON, Mich. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's nordic ski team had their top three skiers place in the top 16 in Saturday's Michigan Tech Qualifier 10km classic race to finish third out of the five Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) teams.
Top Performances
Freshman
Tamer Mische-Richter (Bloomington, Minn./John F. Kennedy HS) recorded another top-10 finish, placing eighth with a time of 31:32. His eighth-place finish was actually his lowest of the CCSA racing season.
Fellow freshman
Ryan Steger (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) scored for the first time this season, placing a season-best 11
th with a time of 32:23. Junior
Dan DeLestry (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS) was the final CSS skier to score, coming in 16
th with a time of 32:39.
Jack Christianson (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) was 21
st and
Isaac Wieber (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) placed 23
rd to complete the St. Scholastica skiers competing.
Team Finishes
Northern Michigan University won once again, sweeping the top two places, led by collegiate winner Kjetil Banerud with a time of 30:28. The host, Michigan Tech, had three skiers finish in the top seven to be second. The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay was behind the Saints in fourth.
