Men’s Skiing Third Again at Central Region Championships

ISHPEMING, Mich. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's nordic ski team finished third for the second straight day on Sunday in the 10km classic race at the NCAA Central Region Championships at the Al Quaal Nordic Center. The region championships were held in conjunction with the USSA Hall of Fame SuperTour event.
 
Top Performances
It was another all-region performance from freshman Tamer Mische-Richter (Bloomington, Minn./John F. Kennedy HS), who finished 24th overall and 10th among Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) skiers with a time of 26:53. He becomes the first St. Scholastica freshman skier to earn all-region honors in both techniques.
 
Jack Christianson (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) had the second-fastest St. Scholastica time finishing in 27:27, which was 16th collegiately and 31st overall. The final Saints scorer was Dan DeLestry (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS), who was 20th among CCSA skiers and 37th overall, with a time of 27:59. DeLestry finishes the year as the only Saint to score in every race.
 
Northern Michigan University swept the top collegiate spots on Sunday to earn the region title. Zak Ketterson led the Wildcats on Sunday with a seventh-place finish in the SuperTour with a time of 25:25. David Norris won the SuperTour event with a time of 24:42.
 
Michigan Tech was second for the weekend, while the Saints were third for the second straight year.
