csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team fell 4-1 to No. 13 Marian University (Wis.) in the first game of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Harris Cup Quarterfinals on Friday.

The Sabres scored first on the power-play with a goal from Nick Monfils five minutes into the game. The Saints found the equalizer two minutes and 30 seconds later when
Dustin Cordeiro (Kitchener, Ontario/Elliot Lake Secondary School (Cochrane-NOJHL)) re-directed a
Mike Nolan (Aldergrove, British Columbia/Yale Secondary (Fresno-WSHL)) pass into the net to make it 1-1. However, Marian regained the lead with seven minutes left in the first on a Gianni Mangone unassisted goal.
It remained 2-1 until the Sabres added to their lead with a Connor Blank goal with 11:43 remaining in the second period. Marian then sealed the game with another Mangone goal in the third to make the final 4-1.
Goaltending
Nick Trenciansky (Vancouver, British Columbia/Holy Cross Regional HS (Kindersley-SJHL)) made 30 saves in the defeat for the Saints. Hunter Vorva had 20 saves in the victory for the Sabres.
