HOUGHTON, Mich. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's nordic ski team had its first skate race of the season on Sunday, taking part in the 10km mass start of the Michigan Tech CXC Cup.
Top Performances
For the second straight day it was freshman
Emil Book Bratbak (Lillehammer, Norway/Lillehammer) leading the way with a 16
th-place finish in a time of 27:23. Fellow freshman
Hannes Stenstrom (Are, Sweden/Are Skidgymnasium) was not too far behind in 19
th, posting a time of 27:30. Sophomore
Tamer Mische-Richter (Bloomington, Minn./John F. Kennedy HS) was the third Saint to cross the line in 22
nd with a time of 27:54.
Junior
Jack Christianson (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) in 25
th and freshman
Gus Schatzlein (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) in 28
th rounded out the top 30 skiers for the Saints. A total of 10 Saints competed on Sunday.
Northern Michigan University swept the top three spots, led by Zak Ketterson with a time of 25:29.
Up Next
The Saints will have skiers competing at the U.S. National Cross Country Ski Championships in Vermont, beginning on January 3. Those will be the first CCSA/NCAA point races of the season.
