UMAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
ST. PAUL (
csssaints.com) – The College of St. Scholastica had three track & field athletes receive Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) honors on Monday.
Senior
Frank Cerar (Plainview, Minn./Plainview-Elgin-Millville HS) is the UMAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week. Cerar opened the indoor season over the weekend down at the University of Dubuque, competing in the Heptathlon. He would proceed to set the second-highest Heptathlon score in program history with a personal-best 4,459 points. He had three event PRs on Friday, including winning the shot put. Then on Saturday, Cerar tied for first in the pole vault with another personal-best mark. That score currently ranks sixth in NCAA Division III.
Sophomore
Aria Plewa (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) is the UMAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week. At The Opener Saturday to begin the indoor season, Plewa captured in the mile run title beating the rest of the field by 44 seconds with a time of 5:26.46. That is the fastest time in the UMAC by 26 seconds thus far and ranks 25
th in NCAA Division III.
Junior
Anika Kling (Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS) is the UMAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week. At The Opener on Saturday, Kling placed fourth in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 16'7" (5.05m). In addition to that, Kling posted a personal-best time in the prelims of the 60m dash with a time of 8.03 and she posted the fastest 200m time in the UMAC at 26.43, which was also a personal-best. All three of those rank atop the UMAC thus far.
