csssaints.com)- The St. Scholastica men's hockey team scored two third-period goals to defeat Concordia University Wisconsin 4-2 at Mars Lakeview Arena on Friday.
The Action
After a scoreless first period, the second period produced a lot of penalties and four goals.
The first goal of the game came seven minutes into the period, when
Davis Ross (Fort Frances, Ontario/Fort Frances HS (Fort Frances-SIJHL)) scored his first goal of the season, on the power-play, to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.
Kyle Star (Langley, British Columbia/Brookswood (Trail Smoke-BCHL)) and
Cole Golka (Ardrossan, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Dryden Ice Dogs-SIJHL)) were credited with the assists. With less than seven minutes left in the period Concordia (0-4-1, 0-2-1 NCHA) would tie the game off a power-play goal by Nick Guerra.
The Saints took the lead once again with 3:15 remaining in the period on
Sam Fuss' (Edina, Minn./Edina HS (Minot-NAHL)) first collegiate goal, but Concordia tied the game with five seconds remaining to make the game 2-2 heading into the third.
Nate Pionk (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS (Minot-NAHL)) scored the eventual game-winning goal and his first of the season, three minutes into the third period to make it 3-2.
Kristofer McKinzie (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Minnesota Magicians-NAHL)) and
Seth Chumley (Cambridge, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's (Minnesota Iron Rangers-SIJHL)) were credited with the assists. And with 8:24 remaining in the game, CSS added a fourth and final goal.
Kyle Star (Langley, British Columbia/Brookswood (Trail Smoke-BCHL)) and

With 1:29 remaining in the game, Concordia pulled their goalie, but were unable to record a shot on net as the Saints prevailed 4-2.
Goaltending
Nick Trenciansky (Vancouver, British Columbia/Holy Cross Regional HS (Kindersley-SJHL)) made the start for the second consecutive game and made 28 saves to earn his second victory. Dakota Delbridge made 33 saves in the loss for the Falcons
