LAKE FOREST, Ill. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica men's hockey team bounced back from a tough loss Friday night to defeat Lake Forest College (Ill.) 3-1 Saturday after scoring a goal each period. In doing so, head coach Tim Madsen got his first collegiate coaching win.

The Action
The first period saw a strong start for the Saints. Zach Satalino (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead HS (Lawrence)) scored his first collegiate point assisting to Seth Chumley (Cambridge, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's (Minnesota Iron Rangers-SIJHL)) six minutes into the period. Up 1-0, the Saints tried to keep the momentum going into the second period.

Lake Forest picked up the pace in the second, outshooting the Saints 14-4. Five minutes in, the Foresters scored tying up the game 1-1.

St. Scholastica fought hard to take the lead back, and finally got their chance off of a power-play. A minute into the power-play and with less two minutes remaining in the second period, Sam Fuss (Edina, Minn./Edina HS (Minot-NAHL)) and Jordan Fralich (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Bismarck-NAHL)) assisted to Michael Talbot (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS (Minot-NAHL)), to regain the lead with a 2-1 tally.

The 2-1 tally carried over into most of the third. In an attempt to tie up the game, Lake Forest pulled their goalie with two minutes left to go. CSS managed to stifle the Foresters' chances and scored on the empty net with eight seconds. Fuss assisted to Cole Golka (Ardrossan, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Dryden Ice Dogs-SIJHL)) for the final goal, raising the count to 3-1.

Notable Performances
Nate Pionk (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS (Minot-NAHL)), Mike Nolan (Aldergrove, British Columbia/Yale Secondary (Fresno-WSHL)) and Kyle Star (Langley, British, Columbia/Brookswood (Trail Smoke-BCHL)) each recorded 3 shots on goal.

CSS goaltender Nick Trenciansky (Vancouver, British Columbia/Holy Cross Regional HS (Kindersley-SJHL)) saved 35 out of 36 shots on goal in his first game of the season. LFC's goalie Louis-Philippe De Courcy stopped 19 of 21 shots up until he was pulled in the last two minutes.
