NEW ULM, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica men's soccer team fell 4-3 to Martin Luther College Saturday afternoon after a late goal in the 82nd minute from the Knights.

The Action
The Saints overpowered Martin Luther in the first half, outshooting the team 13-7. However, the Knights broke through first, scoring 30 minutes into the period.

Down 1-0, the Saints quickly turned the tide seven minutes later. Alex Dodd (Lakeville, Minn./Burnsville HS) assisted from mid-field to Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School) to tie up the game, 1-1. A minute later, Jordan Finneran (Newmarket, England/Cambridge Regional College) set up Buckton to get the ball past the keeper again. The Saints maintained their lead 2-1 going into the second half.

In the second half, the Knights found their momentum. In the 68th minute, the Knights broke away and scored, tying the game up 2-2. Ten minutes later, the Knights took back the lead with a shot driven into the back of the left side of the box.

With eleven minutes left in the game, Darby Henderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) dribbled up to the goalkeeper and scored his third goal of the season for CSS, tying the game at 3-3.

Both teams fought hard to break the tie. But, in the 80th minute, a red card was called on Martin Luther leaving them a player short for the rest of the game. This did not stop the Knights from scoring again, and with eight minutes left in the game, the team passed the ball across the box to score. With the Saints unable to tie the game up, Martin Luther clinched the win, 4-3.

Notable Performances
Henderson lead CSS, recording five shots. Armin Bobaric (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) and Trygve Rennan (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) each shot three.

Buckton recorded four shots. With the addition of scoring two goals today, Buckton leads the Saints with nine goals this season.

CSS goalkeeper Corey Bulheller (Middleton, England/Highfields Secondary School (Bacone)) saved two of the six shots he faced. The Knights' goalkeeper, Gabriel Plocher, stopped eight out of 11 shots on goal.
