DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica men's soccer team took care of Martin Luther College 4-1 Wednesday afternoon at Saints Field. With the win, CSS heads onto the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament championship game scheduled for Saturday. St. Scholastica has advanced to the UMAC Tournament championship game each of the last 13 seasons.
The Action
St. Scholastica blew by Martin Luther in the first half, outshooting the Knights 15-4, and scoring three goals. 17 minutes into the half,
Darby Henderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) put the Saints on a board first with a goal off his own rebound.
In the 29th minute,
Jordan Finneran (Newmarket, England/Cambridge Regional College) kept the momentum going with netting a shot off of an impossible angle on the left side, strengthening the Saints lead to 2-0.
Alex Dodd (Lakeville, Minn./Burnsville HS) assisted to
Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School) two minutes later, cushioning the Saints further to 3-1.
MLC would get on the board in the final minute of the first half to make the halftime score 3-1.
CSS was limited more in the second half, but still outshot Martin Luther 11-6. The final goal of the game came 11 minutes into the half. A cross by the Saints deflected off a Knight and into the net, securing CSS' 13th straight trip to the UMAC Championship.

Finneran led CSS in shots, with five. Buckton, Henderson and
Nolan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) each recorded four.
CSS goalkeeper
Corey Bulheller (Middleton, England/Highfields Secondary School (Bacone)) stopped four out of five shots in his first game since October 13th. Martin Luther's goalkeeper Gabriel Plocher stopped 11 of 15 shots on goal.
