MANKATO, Minn. (
csssaints.com) -- The St. Scholastica men's soccer team wrapped up its UMAC regular season play with a 3-1 victory over Bethany Lutheran College Saturday.
How It Happened
The Saints and Bethany Lutheran (7-9-3, 3-6-3 UMAC) went shot for shot early on. The Vikings scored first, with the goal coming from Johnathon Sehloff in the 29
th minute. The two teams continued to swap shots until
Malcolm Lumsden (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College (Lake Superior College)) got the St. Scholastica on the board with a 42
nd minute goal. That goal was assisted on by
Sam Brickley (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS). Lumsden would put the Saints ahead with another goal just over one minute later. CSS entered halftime up 2-1.
CSS would keep BLC in check for the whole of the second half. They would hold the Vikings to just one shot in the half.
Darby Henderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) added a 76
th minute insurance goal, assisted on by Lumsden. Bethany Lutheran did not get another shot off and the Saints won the match 3-1.
Goalkeeping
Nicholas Semaan (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School) got the start for CSS and earned the win, saving four shots and allowing just one goal. Josiah Hoisington and Moritz Bruns combined to save eight shots and allow three goals in the loss for Bethany Lutheran.
Top Performers
Lumsden was apart of every goal for the Saints in the match, racking up five points. Henderson added the third Saints goal.
