DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) -- With the regular season winding down, the St. Scholastica men's soccer team took down UMAC opponent Crown College by a score of 3-1 Saturday at Saints Field.
How It Happened
The Saints came out of the gates hot against the Storm. They had three shots before Crown could get one off, including a fifth minute goal from
Armin Bobaric (Andover, Minn./Andover HS), his fifth of the season. That goal was assisted by
Darby Henderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS). St. Scholastica out-shot Crown 8-4 in the first half, however only two shots for each team was on goal. Bobaric's goal stood to be the lone first half score, so the Saints led 1-0 going into halftime.
The Saints were the aggressor again in the second half, adding to their lead early.
Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School) scored his 11
th goal of the season in the 52
nd minute on an assist from
Nolan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS). Crown, however, answered back just two minutes later with a goal of their own, coming off of the foot Ger Jones. That goal was assisted on by Jason Kragt.
There was a lull in the action until St. Scholastica had three shots on goal over a five-minute span starting in the 76
th minute. The Saints added an insurance goal in the 86
th minute, when Henderson converted a penalty kick. The game would end in a CSS victory, 3-1.
Goalkeeping
Nicholas Semaan (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School) earned the win in his fifth start of the season for the Saints, saving two shots. Eli Etzel took the loss for Crown, saving four shots and allowing three goals.
Top Performers
Henderson led the match with three points with one goal and one assist. Friday had the other assist for the Saints on Buckton's goal.

The Saints (7-7-2, 6-2-1 UMAC) will close out their home schedule on Monday when they take on UMAC opponent Northland College. That match will take place at Saints Field beginning at 1 p.m.
