Men’s Soccer Heads to Gustavus Tuesday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team jumps back out of conference on Tuesday for a matchup with Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) leader Gustavus Adolphus College.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints are coming off a 5-0 home win over the University of Northwestern (Minn.) on Saturday at Saints Field.
-CSS has scored at least four goals in four of its five wins thus far this season.
-CSS is 2-9 in its last 11 games against MIAC competition with both wins coming against Concordia College-Moorhead.
-Sophomore goalkeeper Nicholas Semaan (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School) saw his first collegiate action in both games last week and recorded his first career shutout in Saturday's win over Northwestern. For his efforts, Semaan was named the UMAC Defensive Player of the Week.
-This is the first time since 2001, the Saints have used four or more goalkeepers in a season.
-Freshman Jordan Finneran (Newmarket, England/Cambridge Regional College) has recorded seven points in each of the last two games he has appeared in.
-Junior Malcolm Lumsden (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College (Lake Superior College)) has 10 points in the last three games.
-Senior Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School) is a point shy of becoming the 12th player in program history to record at least 100 career points. He is also an assist away of becoming the eighth player to record at least 30 goals and 30 assists in a career.
-Fellow senior Darby Henderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) is three points of 50 career points.
 
What You Need to Know about Gustavus Adolphus:
Record: 7-1-1, 4-0-1 MIAC
-The Gusties enter unbeaten in their last six games.
-Their last three victories have been 1-0 decisions with a 1-1 tie against the University of St. Thomas sprinkled in.
-The lone setback of the season came at Luther College (Iowa) on September 7.
-Gustavus has shutout five opponents and leads the MIAC with a .850 team save percentage.
-Anders Severson ranks sixth in NCAA Division III with a .933 save percentage and ninth in the country with a .319 goals-against-average.
-Scott Heinen leads the MIAC with five assists.
-Arthur Parens leads the team with five goals.
 
Series Record: GAC leads 15-5-2 (Last Meeting: 1-0 GAC – 9/3/2017)
 
Series History: The Gusties snapped a two-game losing streak to the Saints last season with a 1-0 win at Saints Field … CSS' last visit to St. Peter resulted in a 4-1 victory, the program's first-ever road win over Gustavus.
