Men’s Soccer to Complete Home Schedule

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team finishes its home schedule with two pivotal Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matches Saturday and Monday.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints come into the weekend currently sitting in third place of the UMAC standings, one point behind University of Minnesota Morris, though the Cougars have played two more games than the Saints.
-Saturday's game against Crown is a huge matchup, Crown is one point behind the Saints, but have also played two more games.
-A sweep this weekend will put the Saints in the driver seat for the second seed for the UMAC playoffs.
-The Saints pulled out a tie against the MIACs second ranked team Wednesday, drawing 1-1 at Macalester College.
-Nicholas Semaan (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School) had a career-high 14 saves in the tie.
-The Saints have played four of the top five MIAC teams and have either led or been tied at halftime in three of them. The one game they were trailing at half was the game they tied on Wednesday.
-Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School) scored the Saints lone goal against Macalester for his team leading 10th of the year.
-With one more goal, Buckton can become the sixth player in program history to record at least 40 goals and 30 assists in a career.
 
What You Need to Know about Crown:
Record: 5-11-1, 5-5-0 UMAC
-Crown comes into Saturday's contest vying for the fourth seed in the UMAC playoffs.
-The Storm are one point up on Martin Luther College with one more game played, and three points up on sixth placed Bethany Lutheran College. Both teams have played 10 contests.
-The Storm are 3-0-0 in the last three games, all against conference teams. They've scored a total of five goals in the three games and have shutout their opponents in each contest.
-Two of those three games were against Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran helping solidify their position in the postseason picture.
-Crown's goalkeeper Eli Etzel was in net for their current three game streak and made five saves in each game, raising his season save percentage to .699.
 
Series Record: CSS leads 36-1-1 (Last Meeting: 2-1 CSS – 9/12/2018)
 
Series History: The Saints have dominated the series between Crown since their first meeting in 1999. The last time the Saints didn't win against Crown was late October, 2005 when the two teams tied 0-0. The only loss for the Saints was back in 2002 when they lost 1-0. Saints have a 24-game win streak on the line.
 
What You Need to Know about Northland:
Record: 1-11-1, 0-8-0 UMAC
-Northland comes into Saturday's matchup with the Saints eliminated from UMAC postseason contention.
-The Jacks have been shutout or scored only one goal in 6-of-8 conference games this season. They've scored two goals in three overall games this season, and they're 1-2 in those games.
-Hanad Hassan leads the Jacks in goals (4) and points (8).
-Austin Stuckart has played majority of the time for the Jacks and has allowed 14 goals in seven games.

Series History: The Saints have won 25 straight in the series, including blanking the LumberJacks in the last 11 matchups.
 
Looking Ahead: The Saints will head on the road for two final games of the regular season. Their next game will be in Minneapolis against North Central University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday.
