The Action
CSS dominated the first half, recording nine shots to the Cougars' three. At 12 minutes in,
Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School) was given a chance to score with a penalty kick, but Morris' goalkeeper was able to stop the shot.
The Saints kept the pressure on the Cougars with two shots, one from Buckton and the other from
Trygve Rennan (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS), that both hit the crossbar in the 22nd and 23rd minute. CSS finally broke through 37 minutes in with an assist from
Darby Henderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) to
Armin Bobaric (Andover, Minn./Andover HS), putting the Saints on the board first. The 1-0 score carried over into the second half.
CSS continued to command in the second half. Just 13 minutes into the half, Buckton assisted to Bobaric for his second goal of the game, strengthening the Saints' lead to 2-0.
With three minutes left in the half,
Malcolm Lumsden (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College (Lake Superior College)) scored his sixth goal of the season making it 3-0, the final score of the contest.
