ANCHORAGE, Alaska (
csssaints.com) – On a snowy opening day of competition at the U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships, six St. Scholastica skiers took part in the freestyle individual start races on Wednesday.
Women
The women competed in the 10km freestyle.
Alaska native and CSS junior
Greta Jenkins (Palmer, Alaska/Colony HS) led the Saints, placing 111
th overall with a time of 33:33. Freshman
Hanna Dahlberg (Ulricehamn, Sweden/Tingsholms School) was 116
th overall, posting a time of 33:57. Jenkins and Dahlberg were seventh and eighth respectively among the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) skiers competing. Northern Michigan University's Vivian Hett led all CSSA skiers finishing in 30:22.
The third and final CSS skier competing on Wednesday was
Nicole Gilman (Manitowish Waters, Wis./Lakeland Union HS), finishing in a time of 25:28 and placing 129
th overall. She was 11
th among CCSA skiers.
Men
The men took part in the 15km freestyle.
Freshman
Tamer Mische-Richter (Bloomington, Minn./John F. Kennedy HS) paced the Saints with a 71
st place finish in a time of 41:09. Mische-Richter was seventh among CCSA skiers with Michigan Tech's Reid Goble leading the way with a time of 40:16.
Sophomore
Jack Christianson (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) placed 121
st overall with a time of 43:36. Christenson was 15
th among conference skiers. The final Saint competing was freshman
Ryan Steger (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) who finished 128
th in a time of 44:07. Steger was 17
th among CCSA skiers.
