Women’s Tennis Bounces Back with First Win

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – After dropping its season opener the night before, the St. Scholastica women's tennis team defeated Concordia College-Moorhead 7-2 on Saturday for its first win of the season.
 
Doubles:
The Saints came out of doubles play with two wins thanks to victories by the No. 2 team of Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) and Elizabeth Fink (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century HS) by a score of 8-3 and by the No. 3 team of Emma Bartels (Roseville, Minn./Mounds View HS (Minn.-Duluth)) and Syd Holt (Pequot Lakes, Minn. /Pequot Lakes HS) by a score of 8-4.
 
Singles:
The Saints went on to win five of the six singles matches. At the No. 2 spot, Rice won 6-3, 6-1. Fink won by default at No. 3 and Sarah Coryell (Golden Valley, Minn./Armstrong HS) dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 4 spot.
 
Taylor Hays (Altoona, Wis./Altoona HS) won 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot and Alexia Brascugli (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) was the final winner at the No. 6 spot by scores of 6-1, 6-2.
 
Up Next:
The Saints (1-1) are at home again next weekend when they face Saint Mary's University at 11 a.m. at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center.
