csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team suffered its first setback of the season on Sunday with a 1-0 loss to Gustavus Adolphus College at Saints Field.
The Action
In a matchup of evenly matched teams on paper proved itself on the field with the Gusties just edging the Saints in shots (12-11) and in shots on goal (6-4) for the game.
After a scoreless first half that showed high energy from both squads, Gustavus put a lot of pressure on the Saints to start the second half. The Gusties earned a pair of corner kicks in the opening two minutes and on their second corner got a fortunate bounce off a Saint and into the net to take a 1-0 lead.
CSS put a couple of shots on goal in the second half, but good opportunities were limited as the Gusties came out on top 1-0.

Sandy Davidson-Hunt (Kenora, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) made five saves in the defeat.
Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School) recorded a pair of shots on goal. Matt Bateman recorded four saves in the victory for the Gusties.
