DE PERE, Wis. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica men's hockey team suffered a 9-2 loss against No. 2 St. Norbert College (Wis.) on Saturday night as the Green Knights completed the series sweep.
The Action
The first period saw four St. Norbert goals, only one on a power play despite having two opportunities. The Saints failed to take advantage of two power plays of their own. The second period of play was another four-goal output for the Green Knights. The Saints finally got on the board though, thanks to Kale Derkson (Regina, Saskatchewan/Sheldon Williams Collegiate/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Notre Dame-SJHL)), assisted by Kyle Beaulieu (White Rock, British Columbia/Earl Marriott (St. Norbert)) and Cole Golka (Ardrossan, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Dryden Ice Dogs-SIJHL)) on a power play. The period ended with the Green Knights ahead 8-1.
The third period slowed down drastically compared to the first two. Less than two minutes into play, Derkson scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Davis Ross (Fort Frances, Ontario/Fort Frances HS (Fort Frances-SIJHL)) and Golka once again. Three minutes later, St. Norbert (18-4-1, 14-3-1 NCHA) answered for the final goal of the game. The rest of the period would pass with no scoring plays, and the game ended with a final score of 9-2.
