RHINELANDER, Wis. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's ski team took part in the 10km classic race of the Rhinelander Qualifier on Saturday at the COVAC Ski Trails.
The Action
This was the first time the Saints have competed on the ski trails in Rhinelander. Today's action was also originally scheduled to be a relay race as part of the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Championships, but since the January 29 race in Duluth did not count towards the NCAA qualifier, the schools decided to make today's event a classic distance race that did count in the CCSA standings.
With
Reitler Hodgert (Bend, Ore./Summit HS ) sitting today's race out,
Ryan St. Clair (Bend, Ore./Summit HS (Walla Walla)) led the Saints posting another top 10 finish, coming in ninth place with a time of 28:55.
Jack Christianson (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) then led a quintet of Saints in 12
th among CCSA skiers with a time of 29:53.
Dan DeLestry (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS) was 13
th five seconds back to round out the scoring.
Teddy Widmer (Bend, Ore./Bend HS) was 14
th,
Isaac Wieber (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) 15
th and
Chris Hecker (Ham Lake, Minn./Anoka HS ) was 16
th. All eight St. Scholastica skiers competing placed in the top 20.
Northern Michigan University swept the top four spots with Adam Martin taking the win in a time of 26:33. Michigan Tech University was second and the Saints were third.

The Saints will have one final qualifying weekend when they compete at the NCAA Central Region Championships in Ishpeming, Michigan next weekend.
