DE PERE, Wis. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team held second-ranked St. Norbert College (Wis.) scoreless for two periods, but the Green Knights struck for two goals 1:32 apart in the third period to defeat the Saints 2-0 Friday night.
The Action
The Saints didn't get many scoring opportunities all night against the top-ranked defense in NCAA Division III. The game was scoreless after two periods, but the Saints were being out-shot 26-7 during that time frame. St. Scholastica goaltender
Zane Steeves (Red Deer, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (100 Mile Wranglers-KIJHL)) stopped all of them thru 2.
The Green Knights broke through less than four minutes into the third period on a Ross Pavek goal. Then one minute and 32 seconds later Dominick Sacco extended the lead to 2-0. That would be the final as the Saints were shutout for the first time this season and for the first time since a loss to Adrian College (Mich.) on January 17, 2015.
Goaltending
Steeves finished with 32 saves on the night for the Saints. TJ Black had 13 saves to earn the shutout for the Green Knights.
