MOORHEAD, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team used a 49-point second half to get past Concordia College-Moorhead 90-77 on Saturday at the Memorial Auditorium.
The Action
The Saints fell behind early once again, but didn't dig themselves as deep of a hole. The Cobbers (3-6) scored the opening five points of the contest, but CSS responded with a 10-0 run with
Sam Thompson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) scoring six of the 10 points via a pair of 3-pointers.
St. Scholastica led by as much as eight early on before the Cobbers climbed back in it and regained the lead midway through the half. After a few ties, the Saints took the lead back following a
Brandon Newman (Barnum, Minn./Barnum HS) 3-pointer with less than four minutes remaining in the half. The Saints held the lead until the halftime buzzer rang with CSS out front 41-39.
The Saints scored 15 points off of seven Concordia turnovers in the half.

Jarod Wilken (Annandale, Minn./Annandale HS) 3-pointer gave the Saints a six-point lead three minutes into the second half. However, the Cobbers responded with a 13-3 scoring spurt to take a four-point lead with 12:30 remaining.
Following a CSS timeout, the Saints used a 10-0 run to get the six-point lead back.
Joe Stark (Hayward, Wis./Hayward HS) had six of the 10 points.
Collin Anderson (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) connected twice on 3-point field goals to keep the margin at seven. St. Scholastica then went 10-for-13 from the free throw line in the final two minutes to seal the game by a final margin of 90-77.
Top Performances for CSS
Five Saints scored in double-figures led by Wilken with 18 points. Anderson added 16 points off the bench, including 13 in the second half. Newman finished with 14 points.
Zach Dahlman (Braham, Minn./Braham HS) and Stark each scored 12 points. Stark scored all 12 of his points in the second half. Thompson finished with 11 points.
Connor Gray (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
Top Performances for the Opponent
Collin Larson led the Cobbers with 17 points. Thomas Schyma added 14 points.
