MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (csssaints.com) - On Saturday afternoon, the St. Scholastica men's soccer team defeated North Central University 3-1 for an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) win. A late goal from the Rams ended a seven-game shutout streak against the Saints that had been in effect since 2012.

The Action:
The first goal of the game came from the Saints in the 19th minute of the game, with Shawayne Folkes (Toronto, Ontario/Maxwell Heights) scoring unassisted to make the score 1-0.

About a minute later, a St. Scholastica player was given a red card, causing St. Scholastica to play the remaining 70 minutes one player short.

The ejection did not seem to faze CSS, as Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School) would go on to score at the 25 minute mark to make the score 2-0. Kyle Farrar (London, England/Kelsey Park Sports College) would then go onto score on a penalty kick to end the first half 3-0.

The Saints, however, were not able to hold North Central in the middle of the second half, as the Rams would score off of a well set up assist to the front of the St. Scholastica goal. The Rams were not able to gain enough momentum and score again though, leading to a final of 3-1.

St. Scholastica led the game in shots on goal with 12 compared to North Central's four. Buckton and Farrar both had three shots on goal; Jordi Puente (Mexico City, Mexico/Escuela Libre de Negocios) had two.

CSS goalkeeper Corrado Rosato (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) saved three of the four shots on goal that he faced, including a penalty kick just before the Folkes goal. If you include the UW-Superior game, Rosato has stopped a penalty kick in three straight games.

Up Next:
