MORRIS, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team settled for second place at the 2016 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Outdoor Championships; ending a streak of 11 consecutive outdoor titles.
Points Breakdown
After Friday's events, the Saints were in second place with 85 points. The host, University of Minnesota Morris, was in first with 120 points. The University of Wisconsin-Superior was third with 59 points and Bethany Lutheran College was fourth with 35 points.
At the end of the meet on Saturday, Minnesota Morris held off the Saints to win its second-ever UMAC outdoor championship and its first since the 2004 season. The Cougars finished with 243 points, while the Saints were 27 points back with 216. UW-Superior was third with 119 points and Bethany Lutheran fourth with 97 points.
Hovland Sets Meet Record
Casey Hovland (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) set a meet record in the 1,500m dash on Saturday, winning in a personal-best time of 4:47.35.

Jordan Johnson (Poplar, Wis./Northwestern HS) won the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 12:44.01.
Winners on Saturday
Hovland won the 5,000m run, posting a time of 18:15.02.
Hannah Russert (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS ) won the 100m hurdles in a time of 15.09.
Nicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) won the high jump, clearing 5'5.25" (1.66m).
Emily Conley (Marinette, Wis./Marinette HS) won the shot put with a toss of 39'8.5" (12.10m).

The Saints finished second, third and fourth in the 800m run.
Taylor Gibson (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent HS) was second with a time of 2:19.81.
Emily Lundgren (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) third with a time of 2:25.49 and
Jacqueline Kaplan (Elysian, Minn./Waterville-Elysian-Morristown HS) fourth finishing in 2:25.86.
Breanna Shofner (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) was runner-up in the 200m dash with a time of 26.51.
Nicole Schommer (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS) was fourth in that event.
Katharine Roetering (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) was second in the pole vault, clearing 9'9" (2.97m). The 4x800m relay team of
Lizzie Fudge (Perham, Minn./Perham HS),
Julianna French (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids HS), Lundgren and Kaplan were third with a time of 10:28.08.
Russert was third in the 400m hurdles, posting a time of 1:10.63. Russert was also fifth in the javelin throw with a mark of 93'8" (28.54m).
Rachel Harmston (Cook, Minn./North Woods HS) was fourth in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 16'5.75" (5.02m).
Top Finishers on Saturday
The 4x100m relay team of
Mady Urman (Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS), Harmston, Schommer and Shofner were runner-up with a time of 50.99. The 4x400m relay team of Schommer, Gibson, Shofner and Lundgren was also second finishing in 4:07.76.
Gibson was runner-up in the 400m dash with a personal-best time of 59.81. Shofner was fifth in that event.
Christianson was second in the triple jump with a mark of 35'6" (10.82m). Roetering was fourth in that event.
Johnson was third in the 1,500m run, posting a career-best time of 4:53.76.
Hailey Fentem (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) placed third in the 100m hurdles finishing in 15.96. Schommer was third in the 100m dash with a time of 13.11.
Conley finished third in the discus throw with a mark of 111'2" (33.89m).
