-Christianson matches program record in high jump, which ranks fourth in the nation
LA CROSSE, Wis. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team took part in the Phil Esten Challenge, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, on Thursday and Friday.
Heptathlon
Hannah Russert (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS ) competed in the heptathlon, which began on Thursday. Russert began with a third place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.81. She then tied for sixth in the high jump, clearing a personal-best height of 4'10.25" (1.48m).
After the shot put, Russert finished the first day with a personal-best time in the 200m dash with a time of 27.47. Russert had a day one total of 2,516 points, which was good enough for eighth.
On Friday, Russert had an outdoor PR in the long jump (4.71m) and a personal-best time of 2:39.62 in the 800m run as she finished ninth overall with a career-best 3,984 points.
Hovland Wins Again
Casey Hovland (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) won for the second straight week in the 5,000m run on Friday with a personal-best time of 17:36.66. That beat the rest of the field by 41 seconds.
Top Performances
Nicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) matched a program record and personal-best height of 5'7" (1.70m) to finish second in the high jump. That mark currently ranks fourth in NCAA Division III this season.
Jordan Johnson (Poplar, Wis./Northwestern HS) was third in the 5,000m run with a time of 18:45.34.
The 4x400m relay team of
Taylor Gibson (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent HS),
Jacqueline Kaplan (Elysian, Minn./Waterville-Elysian-Morristown HS),
Nicole Schommer (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS) and
Breanna Shofner (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) was fifth with a time of 4:03.65.

The Saints may send athletes to Iowa for the Drake Relays and Kip Janvrin Open, starting on Thursday. The rest of the Saints will be at the Saint Mary's University Open next Saturday.
