ASHLAND, Wis. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision to Northland College on Friday night at the Bay Area Civic Center.
All the Scoring in the Second
After a scoreless first period, which saw the Saints outscore the LumberJacks 11-10, Northland got a short-handed goal 58 seconds into the second period to make it 1-0.
Derek Sutliffe (Las Vegas, Nev./Odyssey Charter School (Langley Rivermen-BCHL) ) evened the score at 1-1 with eight minutes remaining in the period with an even-strength goal.
Cole Golka (Ardrossan, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Dryden Ice Dogs-SIJHL)) and
Josh Hansen (Chilliwack, British Columbia/Unity Christian School (Chilliwack-BCHL) ) had the assists.
Northland ultimately scored the game-winner with two minutes remaining in the second period on a power-play goal by Karson Kuntz.
The third period did not see a single penalty until the final hon sounded and there were matching major penalties. The LumberJacks held off the Saints for the 2-1 victory.
Goaltending
Peter Megariotis (Anaheim Hills, Calif./Canyon HS (Adrian)) had 30 saves in the loss for the Saints. AJ Smith recorded 36 saves to earn the win for the 'Jacks.
